ABOUT US

The founder, Susan L. State, started the Company in 1979. Susan gained a multi-dimensional approach to this industry by working with some of the larger homebuilders since the early 1970’s. Some of the companies she worked for included Broadmoor Homes, Daon Corporation, and The Imperial Group. Ms. State held positions including Asst. Director of Operations, Project Manager and Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Through this hand-on experience early in her professional career, she was able to formulate strategies and practical experience in the home-building business, and that, combined with her strong analytic ability helped to create this firm’s systematic and creative approach to market research.

Since 1979, S. L. State and Associates has been dedicated to the goal of providing builders, developers, city agencies and banks with the analytical tools, the quantitative and qualitative analysis, and to help to develop highly articulated strategies that will be essential as we face the challenges of the market.

S. L. State & Associates was the publisher of The State Report, a quarterly audit of construction activity occurring throughout the 9-County Bay Area and the Central Valley. The State Report merged with Real Estate Economics in 2006, and is now available as an online tool. This merge allowed the audit to expand to include the State of California, and it is the most comprehensive analytical tool serving the industry.

S L State & Associates has worked with companies like Bank of America and Gentra Capital in the disposition of REO portfolios. We have provided efforts ranging from comprehensive analysis of the property to the sales and marketing of projects.

Susan is invited to speak to groups often, including PCBC, lenders, builders, developers; investors, both local and abroad. She has served as a board member of CASA in the San Ramon Valley, is an advisor to Smart-Zip, received honors in High School and College, was the recipient of the Daughters’ of the American Revolution Award. Outside of celebrating over 30 years as President of State & Associates, she has a passion for art. She is a prolific abstract artist and has been invited to various shows throughout California.
